The 2026 Summer Reading Program: Plant a Seed, Read starts June 1st!


A trifold brochure: June 2026 WCPL Youth Summer Reading Events: National Park Mysteries Book 1 Book Club for ages 8 through 12 years on June 3 and 17 at 2pm. Receive your own copy of the book. Meet twice a month to discuss the book, activities and learn more about the National Park we are reading about! First up: Rocky Mountain National Park!
Dungeons and Dragons: Kids meet June 24 and July 30 from 4 to 5:30pm. Teens and Adults meet June 3 and July 9 from 4 to 5:30pm. Meetings will be on the youth side and dice will be available for play. 
June 4 at 10am: Mary Osborne from The Stewart House: Learn about Minnie Stewart’s Grandfathers and their service in the Revolutionary War.
June 4 at 3:30pm: Reading Buddies: Monmouth Roseville HS Students will join your kids in reading their favorite books or even help them with reading their current book. This is a great time for kids to practice reading skills, make new friends and try new and exciting books!
June 9 at 10am: 4-H will teach us all about Horticulture and we will learn hands on through an exciting project!
June 10 at 10am: Author Trinette Olin will be here to share about her book “The Bicentennial Year and the Forgotten Name.” Hear Trinette share about her journey to writing and her story through readings and more!
June 11 at 10am: Join us for a Genealogy Workshop with our Genealogical Society. They have some fantastic activities to teach you how to research your very own ancestors and learn how to find out your own family tree!
June 12 from 10 to 11:30am: University of Illinois Julian Inness will teach you how coding works and you will even learn the skill of how to code your very own game!
June 12 at 2pm: Shadowland Serpentry will be here for a hands on experience with reptiles, amphibians, and all the creepy crawlies!
June 16 at 10am: Nahant Marsh will be here to teach us all about our amazing habitat with hands on activities and great learning and interactive presentations!
June 17 at 10am: Ag in the Classroom with Ms. Anna! Learn all about Agriculture with hands on activities.
June 18 @ 10am: Ms. Shelby with University of Illinois Extension will be here to teach all about nutrition!
June 20 at 3pm: Rudy Vallejo Bald Eagle Dancer will be performing at the Pattee Plaza. He will share stories, dance, and share his knowledge of eagles and their importance to his Native heritage.
June 12 at 5:45pm on Pattee Plaza: Wild Times Exotics is back! Join us for a wild time with exotic animals and a hands on adventure!
June 25 at 10am: Lakeview Nature Center with Ms. Natalie: Learn all about plants and pollinators with make and takes and a fun book Ms. Natalie will be reading!
June 26 at 2pm: Chris Enroth with University of Illinois Extension will be here to teach all about container gardening.
June 30 from 1 to 3 pm: Ag days at West Park by Monmouth-Roseville High School. Meet farm animals, local farmers, farm games, FFA groups, 4H, Ag in the Classroom and so much more! This is a fantastic way to meet and learn all about ag!

July 8 from 9am to 3pm: Babysitter Essentials and Hands only CPR. Register at the Warren County Public Library. Please stop into the library to fill out the forms needed for registration. Lunch is provided. Bring a refillable water bottle.
July 9 at 10am: Genealogy Workshop Field Trip to Sugar Tree Grove Cemetery. Learn how to properly clean a headstone and do a headstone rubbing.
July 10 at 2pm: Boston Tea Part: Join us for tea, treats, and a fun history lesson activity.
July 14 and 28 at 10am: Nahant Marsh will be here to teach us all about our amazing habitat with hands on activities and great learning and interactive presentations.
July 15 at 10am: Turnbull Heritage Museum with Warren County Genealogy: Tour the museum and learn about Warren County heritage and wrap up our summer on genealogy!
July 16 at 2pm: Eat Your Way Across America: Try different snacks from different states.
July 29 at 10am: Warren County History Museum: Illinois and the Revolution. Learn about the people living here during the Revolutionary War. See items from that time period as well!

Adult 2026 Summer Reading Events
A trifold brochure: About the program: This program is designed for adults ages 18 and up to encourage life-long reading habits. Earn points for every minute that you read! Log the number of minutes you read a day to earn points! More ways you can earn points: log minutes, ie. 60 mins is 60 points; attend programs for 100 points; compete missions, only adult books count towards the missions!). Earn a prize for every 1000 points! 1000 points, you earn a book; 2000 points, you earn a tote bag; 3000 points, you earn a gift card. Once you’ve earned 3000 points, you’ll receive a complete certificate! No additional prizes will be awarded after 3000 points. Participation in the Adult Summer Reading Program gives you the chance to enter your name into a weekly raffle drawing! Register at wcplibrary.beanstack.org.
