Loans and Renewals

  • All items have a two-week checkout period, with the exception of wireless hotspots, which are loaned out for only one week.
  • Patrons may have up to 50 items checked out at one time.
  • Items may be renewed up to 3 times, unless the item is on hold for another patron.
  • Certain reference materials may be checked out under special circumstances, for a period not to exceed two weeks.

How to Renew

There are three ways to renew items to keep them longer:

A patron may request any library item which is not immediately available for patron use. When the reserved item becomes available, the Library will notify the patron via telephone or email. If the patron is not available to answer the telephone, a message will be left. The date of the message will be noted and the material will be held for the patron for a period of 10 days.

There are no fines for late returns. Warren County patrons will need to checkout at one of our libraries to ensure a fine free experience. Items checked out at a neighboring library may accrue fines. Please note, charges for lost or damaged items still apply.

Patrons receive a courtesy notice two days before item(s) are due, and overdue notices 7 and 14 days past the due date. After 21 days, these items will be charged to your account as lost materials. The bill will be removed upon the return of the item(s). Patrons are also responsible for any and all collection and/or court costs incurred by the Library in its efforts to secure the return of the material.

The charge to replace a lost library card is $1.00.

All library materials borrowed are the responsibility of the library patron. In the case of children under the age of 18, it is the parent’s responsibility to pay for lost or damaged items.

The purchase price showing in the circulation system will be charged to any patron who borrows and loses or damages beyond repair any library item. If the item is found by the patron after payment, the Library will refund the price that was charged for the item, but only with presentation of the receipt received at time of payment.

Materials borrowed through inter-library loan which are lost or damaged are charged to the patron according to the bill provided by the lending agency.
