Book Discussion: Circe by Madeline Miller

January 26, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Join us Thursday, January 26th @ 5:30pm at the library to discuss the novel that inspired a boom in retellings and reimaginings of mythology from the perspective of the women, Circe by Madeline Miller. Books are available for pick up now to allow for extended reading time due to the holidays. While supplies last!

Daughter of Helios, Circe is born with the power of witchcraft which can transform enemies into monsters and menace the gods themselves. Banished by Zeus for fear of her powers, she hones her craft and crosses paths with many famous figures in mythology, when she meets Odysseus. Unwittingly drawing the wrath of men and gods alike, Circe must choose one and for all whether she belongs among the gods with the mortals she has come to love. With unforgettably vivid characters, mesmerizing language and page-turning suspense, Circe is a subversive retelling of The Odyssey, recasting the most infamous from the epic as a hero in her own right.
